Description of Duties:

Performs highly responsible professional legal and administrative work for the Board of Nursing.  Will review all cases for potential disciplinary action.  In conjunction with the Board=s investigators, will prepare Notices of Hearings, Agreed Board Orders, Board Orders, Interrogatories and other legal documents relating to formal and informal disposition of contested cases and administrative proceedings.  Will file charges in accordance with applicable law and rules of the agency.  Will draft rule changes, respond to open records request and draft requests for AG opinions.  See detailed job description of essential functions of the position. General Qualification Requirements:

Experience and Training:

Thorough knowledge and understanding of proper office procedures and techniques.  Must have considerable knowledge of legal terminology, research methods and techniques.  Must have a minimum of two years experience as a legal assistant.  Must have a minimum of four years experience in the use of personal computers and various software.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in law or related field.   Certification as a legal assistant/paralegal may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

Personal:

Good communication skills, capable of independent work, the ability to make decisions maintain confidentiality.
